There are many beautiful moments throughout music history and I have decided to start a new series of articles dedicated to that, so stay tuned. I am not going to make a „top 10 epic appearances”, nor a type „twenty-whatever definitive moments that changes music history”. It`ll be just a simple remembering of what moved me during all these years, without any order in space or time.
So, without further ado, the first one goes to Mariah Carey, for an appearance on the 5th of June 1990, when she was virtually unknown to the great public, at the 1990 NBA finals. She will be releasing her debut album, called Mariah Carey, several days later, on the 12 of June 1990.
This is the performance that is still giving me the goose bumps, raised an entire stadium on their feet, in pure joy, and made the CBS commentator to say “The Palace now has a queen!”.
This version of „America the beautiful” turned a sportive event into an epic moment of modern music history.
